TOPOLOGIES OF MEMORY - BARDO PROJEKTRAUM’S, BERLIN

09/04/2026

Exhibition by artists Carla Abiles y Paula Punto at Bardo Projektraum's in Berlin, Germany.

Memory is not linear. It does not function as an ordered archive or a stable chronology. It resembles, rather, a territory of folds, voids, blurred zones, and points of intensity.

Topologies of Memory proposes to think of remembrance as a constantly shifting map. Each work traces possible paths through what we retain, images, affects, fragmented scenes, bodily sensations, and explores how these elements reorganize over time.

To remember is not to return to the past as it was. It is to reconstruct it from the present. In that gesture, memory intertwines with imagination, desire, and lived experience. Layers overlap, scales shift, proportions are altered.

The works gathered in this exhibition do not seek to illustrate specific memories, but to investigate their forms, how an affect is drawn, how an absence is represented, what geometry intimacy might take.

Here, memory appears as surface, as volume, as texture, as something that expands and contracts. Memory is a territory we inhabit, even when we do not see it.

To map memory is to attempt to understand how we are shaped by what we have lived, and how what we remember and what we forget structures our way of being in the world.
